On Tuesday, December 4, IC a Cure for Kids will be holding a fundraiser dinner in honor of Officer Colin Hayward-Toland. All of the proceeds will go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
IC a Cure for Kids is a club on Ithaca College’s campus that focuses all of its efforts on raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Patients who receive treatment at this nonprofit never have to pay a single penny for the treatment that they receive.
Colin Hayward-Toland was just nine-years-old when he became an honorary member of the Ithaca Police Department. The IPD gave him several duties throughout the time, such as patrolling The Commons, arresting the Grinch at Christmas time, and making safety videos for the town. He had a major impact on the Ithaca community. Unfortunately, Colin had brain cancer, and in March, he passed away at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
I had the opportunity to speak with Officer Colin and his parents about a year ago. I have continued to keep in touch with his family, and I knew that as President of IC a Cure for Kids, I had to do something to honor him.
The dinner fundraiser will be held in Emerson Suites from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be a buffet dinner, music from WICB, raffles from Purity, CoreLife, Friendly’s, and much more. There will be performances from IC Unbound, Voicestream, and Ithacapella.
